Where does inspiration come from?

Sometimes,it’s the in-ceiling sound system at a strip mall

and you decide to record a snippet of audio that grabs you in a certain way.

and later that night, at the studio, when your bandmate says,

“I’m hearing french horns for this song”

YOU LIGHT UP AND EXCLAIM

“It just so happens that I heard some french horns today at lunch.”

And then you re-work the song you have been recording for 5 months

and are left with a new, fresh, interesting and unexpected 3rd version of the song

albeit without drums.
